Volunteer Policy
SWM Rec implements a volunteer policy that aligns with other not-for-profit sports leagues in Southwest Michigan.
Volunteer Requirement
Every child’s registration requires a volunteering commitment from a parent or legal guardian. Instead of volunteering, a parent or legal guardian can choose to pay a $50 opt-out fee for 1st child and $15 opt-out fee for 2+ child at the time of registration.
Scheduling Conflicts
If you are scheduled to volunteer and there is a conflict, you may send someone of legal age in your place to fulfill the responsibility.
If no one is available to take your place, you must notify the league via email at least 48 hours before your scheduled volunteering time, so your commitment can be rescheduled.
Penalties
If a parent pledges to volunteer and neglects to fulfill their volunteer responsibility, SWM Rec will assess the
opt-out penalty to a player’s account. $50 opt-out fee for 1st child and $15 opt-out fee for 2+ child.
If this occurs, the fee is added to a registrant’s soccer account. The child’s account balance must be paid in full before they are eligible to play soccer again.
